About Us

Women in Defence and Security (WiDS) is an operating committee of the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) whose mandate is to promote and support women’s careers in the Canadian defence and security industries. 

WiDS is run by a group of passionate, driven and hardworking volunteers who contribute to the success of WiDS programming. From developing programming ideas, making connections, to executing our events, our team of volunteers is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do what is necessary to achieve our mandate.

With our programming, we strive to reach every member of the WiDS community from coast to coast to coast. We strive to empower, elevate, and inspire the next generation of leaders. A diverse and inclusive defence and security community is not just a goal, but a shared vision that will drive innovation and excellence. 

Acknolwedgment of Traditional Territory

We respectfully acknowledge that our work and activities take place on the traditional territories of Indigenous peoples across Canada. We recognize and honour their enduring presence and contributions to these lands. 
WiDS acknolwedges, that its office located in Ottawa, is on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.
Further, WiDS respects and affirms the inherent and Treaty Rights of all Indigenous Peoples across this land. WiDS has and will continue to honour the commitments to self-determination and sovereignty we have made to Indigenous Nations and Peoples.
